Laser tag is the ultimate family activity and we think it should be on your schedule for this weekend here in Westake Village.

1. (Almost) Everyone can play

Anyone over the age of 6 can partake in a round of laser tag. The equipment is not heavy or clunky, meaning that even small hands can handle the power of the laser. The rules are also straightforward enough for young children to understand.

2. It’s safe(r)

As opposed to paintballing, which can leave welts and bruises, laser tagging is a no-contact activity and poses no greater risk than running around in the yard would. So don’t be afraid to invite your family friends or your kid’s BFFs, there should be no serious accidents – it’s safer than skating, baseball, hockey, swimming, horseback riding, jumping on a trampoline, go-carting, etc. etc. etc. You get the point.

3. Valuing Strengths

Winning in laser tag comes down to more than just being quick and strong – the secret to success in many sports. In laser tag, to have an advantage over the other team, you really need to strategize and play together- meaning that you value someone’s smart game plan, another player’s accuracy, speed, agility and more! Your family will learn to appreciate each other’s strengths and work through the weaknesses, while increasing the team dynamics.

4. Sportsmanship

In the end, laser tag is a competitive game and there is a winner and a loser. It’s important for everyone to learn how to cope with losing and well as know how to be a gracious winner. Who could be a better sportsmanship teacher than a child’s own parents?

5. Active Entertainment

Instead of just sitting in front of a screen and watching a movie or playing Euchre with granny’s friends, make family time an active part of your day. Laser tag gets everyone off the couch and moving, without excluding anyone from the activity due to strenuousness.
